Year 5 - Pine Class

Welcome to Year 5!

Highlight of the week 9/12/24: During their recent Forest School session, Y5 made a Christmas Santa to decorate Santa's Grotto. They then made some outdoor Christmas shaped bird feeders.

Highlight of the week 25/11/24: For No Pens Day, Year 5 learnt to communicate in different ways. They used pasta to represent 'morse code' & used magnetic letters to spell out words and messages to their friends. Here are some of their words. Can you work out what they are saying?

Highlight of the week 11/11/24: For Anti-Bullying week, Y5 watched a video about respect and what bullying looks like in a school. They then wrote an acrostic poem for the word Respect. Here is a selection of their poems. We hope you enjoy!

Highlight of the week 21/10/24: For Black History Month, Year 5 learnt all about a significant event in our British History: The Bristol Bus Boycott. As part of their learning, they performed a drama. Here are some of the placards the children used as part of their drama activity.

Highlight of the week 07/10/24: For our D&T lesson this week, Y5 learnt to peel, grate, chop and slice different food items. To introduce their new English text and unit of work, Y5 had a tea tasting session (tasting fruit and decaf tea). Some enjoyed the experience more than others!

Highlight of the week 23/09/24: For our recent RHE lesson, Pine class had to work together to build the tallest tower they could with only 6 sheets of newspaper. This lesson really helped to develop their communication and cooperation skills.

Highlight of the week 09/09/24: For our launch day in Year5, the children found out about a carnival in Brazil. They then used their understanding to make a carnival mask. As you can see, they are very imaginative and colour.
